John Crawford is part of IBM’s global Healthcare Industry team, with specific focus on European healthcare systems, and is a member of the IBM Industry Academy.
He advises and contributes to several healthcare IT industry associations, including COCIR, and the Personal Connected Health Alliance. He is President of the European Health Telematics Association (EHTEL), a multi-stakeholder group dedicated to the promotion of eHealth and new models of care in European healthcare systems. He is also an advisor to the Mobile World Capital mHealth Task Force.
John served on the Industry Team for the EU epSOS project on cross-border health services, and he is currently the lead IBM representative for the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Aging (Action Area B3 – Integrated Care).
He is often invited to provide expert commentary about developments in eHealth, and has spoken at many conferences and events including the World of Health IT, the European Health Forum Gastein, the eHealth Forum, the HIMSS CIO Summit, the European Telemedicine Conference, and the NHS Confederation Conference. In 2012 he contributed to the World Economic Forum report on Sustainable Healthcare Systems, as well as editing the chapter on Open Innovation in eHealth for the InnovaHealth report. In 2010 he designed and taught a class on the evolution of eHealth at the J&J European Health Leadership Programme at the INSEAD Business School.
With over 35 years experience in the IT Industry, he is a strong advocate for the transformation of healthcare using information technology, and he regularly provides briefings on IBM’s Healthcare Business and eHealth to the press and analysts.
